My Personas

Personas is a Firefox extension that provides lightweight, easy-to-install and easy-to- change "skins" for your Firefox web browser. It's a project developed by Mozilla Labs.

The "My Personas" project is a set of skins that I produced from my personal photo collection. I tried to choose carefully which pictures to use and how, but it's hard to fill a 3000x200 image when you know that 1/12th of the image won't be seen in most cases. Half of my skins have a single image in the corner, and the remaining area is just filler. They're all pretty good, I think.

Looking up

I took this picture in New York City, obviously. I spent a great deal of time trying to get more of the seagull's body, but that proved too hard. In the end I think just having the head looking the opposite way gives a nice effect.
Copenhagen

I love the coloring of buildings in many parts of Europe. This is something sorely missing in most Western architecture, and it lends itself for some very nice patterns. Copenhagen turned out to be one of my favorite places in Europe so far.
Costa Rica at Night

San José, Costa Rica, and the rest of the Central Valley. I think this picture was taken from a restaurant called Tiquicia. Amazing view, and this is just the more dense part of the big picture.
Ghost Archer

I took this picture in London, UK, inside the Tower of London. This is a really cool place that you shouldn't miss when visiting the city. I chose this picture because it lent itself for a very simple top-right corner and then a sky-blue pattern.
Seashells by the Seashore

Taken in Puerto Viejo, in the Atlantic coast of Costa Rica. I should probably do a better job fixing this skin, but my artistic skills are very limited. Still, I think that it's a nice background for those that want the beach closer to them at work and at home.
The Sunflower

The Sunflower is a photograph I took for my girlfriend. I took it in Naranjo, Costa Rica, while doing a Coffee Tour with some friends who came visting from New York. I saw some sunflowers that happened to be around and took it on a whim. Lucky shot.
Blue Door

The base for this pattern was taken in Heredia, Costa Rica, at a very nice lodge called El Tirol. Everything there looks absolutely Snow White dwarf-ish, and this is just a repeated pattern created from a photograph of a blue door in one of their cabins.
Manhattan

I love New York City. It's one of my favorite places in the world. This is the Manhattan skyline, taken from Brooklyn. I'm not too happy with the blue filler, which doesn't work very well at the bottom. Still, most people will never notice it.
At the studio

One of my side projects includes producing an album for Costa Rican heavy metal band Pneuma. I spent some time taking pictures of all the equipment at the studio, which is quite impressive at first glance.
